The Gathering Festival of Music & Arts

Venue: Gleneagle Hotel Killarney
Date: February 28th to March 3rd 2024

The Gathering features the best trad musicians, singers, and, dancers for one weekend of  celebrations and festivities. This year’s festival programme is full of concerts, céilís, sessions, and workshops and a late-night festival club.

Kerry Drama Festival 2024

This years programme looks quite ambitious with the inclusion of two ancient Greek plays as well as two by Brian Friel and one by Martin McMcDonagh. We will also see a few plays which have not been seen previously at Kerry Drama Festival. One of our favourite Kerry events in 2024.

Ireland BikeFest

This is a top international festival for motorcycle enthusiasts, and has become a flagship fixture in the motorcycle calendar.

Ireland BikeFest brings together bikers from all over the world to enjoy and explore one of Europe’s best-loved riding destinations and festivals in one epic experience. The three-day free event is held each year in Killarney during Ireland’s June Bank Holiday Weekend.

The festival’s highlights include a vibrant carnival atmosphere, a stellar line-up of music and entertainment, demo rides, a custom bike show, and ride-outs along the renowned Ring of Kerry and the celebrated coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way.

This ia a truly spectacular festival which can be enjoyed by everybody – You don’t have to be a biker. It is very well organised and orderly.

Tom Crean Endurance Walk

On Saturday we will set out early on our annual Tom Crean Endurance Walk and celebratory BBQ afterward in the village.

For those staying over until Sunday, we are planning the short Tom Crean trail walk from the village to Ballinacourty graveyard to pay our respects to Tom Crean and complete the celebration.

A great addition this year, on display at the South Pole Inn, is a replica of the James Caird lifeboat, and an account of its famous voyage.

Ring of Kerry Cycle

Venue: Ring Of Kerry
Date: Saturday 6th July 2024

Thousands take part in this 170km charity cycle every year. The route takes participants over some of the most scenic roads in Ireland. It starts and ends in Killarney passing through Killorglin, Glenbeigh, Cahersiveen, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem and Kenmare on the Ring of Kerry.

All levels of cyclists take part but you do need a degree of fitness to complete the course. There are some fairly long steep climbs but also an equal number of easy downhill sections.

Puck Fair

Puck Fair 2019

Date: 10th – 12th August 2024

3 days of celebration of the crowning of “King Puck” with a horse fair, cattle fair, music, street entertainment, stalls, food and lots of organised mayhem.
This festival is based on an ancient pagan festival and may be the oldest festival in Ireland.

Rose of Tralee International Festival

Everybody knows about The Rose of Tralee. As well as the televised selection of the Rose of Tralee Kerry in 2024 there is a carnival in the town for the week with lots of music, street events and a funfair.

Listowel Harvest Festival of Racing

Listowel Harvest Festival of Racing 2022 2022

Venue: Listowel Racecourse and town
Date: 22nd – 28th September 2024

The last great horse racing festival of the year Listowel Harvest is well known internationally and attracts some of the best national hunt horses in the country.
The biggest race of the Festival is The Kerry National. Last year, a faller at the last fence, Helvic, went on to win the American Grand National and The King George at Kempton.

As well as the great racing, the town is abuzz for the week with music and activities in all the pubs and restaurants.
