Rose of Tralee Festival 2019

The Rose of Tralee Festival 2019 is  the 60th running of this annual event making it one of the longest running festivals in Ireland.

This years festival is on from Friday 23rd August to Tuesday 27th August.

The main activity centres around the selection of the Rose of Tralee 2019 and this takes place in “The Dome” (a temporary event tent) over two nights.
Contestants from all over Ireland as well as the UK, Europe, USA and other countries take part in this contest for the coveted title of Rose of Tralee.
The contest which is held over two nights is televised live on RTE television and is one of the most popular shows of the year.
A Rose Ball, A Fashion Show, a Rose Disco and a Party with the Roses which are also held in the Dome.

All around Tralee including on the street there are lots of music events, mostly free.
This year Hothouse Flowers, Aslan, Derek Ryan.The Wild Rovers, The Reality Gospel Band and the Cafe Orchestra are among the acts performing. There will be numerous other brass bands and street musicians performing throughout the festival.

Apart from that there will be street entertainment, a street market, Fossetts Circus, Parades and Fireworks, a road race, acrobats, Bird’s Amusements, clowns, magocians and lots more.

As usual there will be lots of activities including music sessions in most of the pubs in the town.

This is a festival which has something for visitors of all ages.
