Fenit is a village xx miles west of Tralee and can be considered to be Tralee’s seaport. It was a busy port in the past when grain, coal etc. were imported and cattle and other agricultural goods were exported. It has a long pier and sheltered harbour and in recent years it has become a sailing and fishing destination.
What’s in Fenit?
This village is a nice area with some popular residential areas. It has some nice pubs and restaurants and the pier is a popular destination for anglers and water sports enthusiasts.
Tralee Sailing Club is based at the entrance to the pier and the area is filled with leisure craft and yachts of all shapes and sizes especially during the Summer months.
It was from here that the Jeanie Johnston replica, which was built in Blennerville sailed to America.
There are some nice walks around the coast in this locality.
